Galway Kayak Club is a multi-disciplinary kayak club are based in Galway City. We cater for multiple paddlesports, taking advantage of the diverse selection of waterbodies that Galway and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Our members are a mixture of experienced paddlers and those who have only recently discovered the joys of paddling. We try to provide as many opportunities as possible for our members not only to expand their skills but also to have fun, experience the wonders of Irish waterways all in as safe an environment as possible.
We also run a successful beginner programme with introductory courses organised every year, and junior summer camps when possible.
Galway Kayak Club is committed to an inclusive ethos where all members of the club regardless of age, gender, sexuality, ethnicity or religion are treated with respect and have an equal opportunity to progress and pursue their paddling goals in a safe, friendly and fun environment.
We're always out on the water, capturing the best moments from our kayaking adventures! You'll find a steady stream of photos and videos shared on Facebook and Instagram.
Can I rent a kayak or do you run kayaking trips for non-members?
We do not operate a kayak or equipment rental service and we are unable to provide kayaking trips to non-members. GKC is a non-profit club run by volunteer club members.
If you join the club, you will be able to join regular outings, with something happening almost every day during the summer. The club can provide the kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid, spray deck, cag, and helmet to get you going, you just need to bring suitable footwear, and clothing to stay warm in, such as wetsuits.
